Nicholas was a career diplomat. He was born in December 1961. He was educated at Dulwich College, London. He went to Selwyn College, Cambridge, on an Entrance Scholarship (and a Choral Exhibition) to read English in 1981, graduating with a Double First in 1984. He joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) on graduation. The FCO sent him to the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), London, in 1985 to start studying Arabic and then to Cairo for final examinations in May 1987. Daniel Hayes is a business leader and advisor with a passion for technology, aviation, energy conservation, and advancing the circular economy. As co-founder of VRCO Ltd, he led the development of an eVTOL, an electric vertical take off and landing aircraft. Following his exit in 2022, Daniel has focused on investment and strategic advisory roles, including work with AirMobility Inc. of Japan and guiding Evie Autonomous to a proposed $500M Nasdaq business combination.
Currently serving as Chief Commercial Officer at UCR Holdings Ltd, Daniel drives the commercialisation of energy-saving technologies that support sustainability and operational efficiency. With over 20 years of experience in asset management, investment, and private banking—including roles at HSBC and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein—he has a proven track record in building teams, managing risk, and raising capital for growth-focused ventures.
Daniel is also leading Intraday Venture Capital, which focuses on funding purposeful projects with the potential for long-term, transformative impact on society and the planet. Intraday prioritizes investments that not only offer strong ideas but also possess the human capital and leadership needed to turn concepts into commercial realities and scale them effectively. Recognizing the fundamental challenges we face—climate change, resource scarcity, and social inequality—Intraday takes a structured approach to capital allocation. Daniel holds a degree in Economics, Accounting & Finance, and Business Law. He’s also a qualified Project, Program and Portfolio Manager and is a BCS Test Manager and ITIL certified. My experience in international trade with Brazil and South East Asia has enabled me to provide a level of quality to my services which are unique. Member of the Institute of Marketing and a staunch networker. I was the marketing consultant for Dae Woo in the 1970’s when they first came to the European market and in the late 70’s and 80’s was head hunted by the Brazilian Government, to act as their marketing consultant to bring specific Brazilian products to the European and UK markets. Whilst in Brazil employed by Petrobras for a period of 7 years. Intraday Group is very active in the Petroleum Industry, Agricultural products, Sugar and the vegetable Oil trades, and has allocations from end producers and refineries.
Former UK Chairman and a Member of the Board of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce, I was one of only two members of that board actually based in the UK. Retired from the board 5th June 2019. Extensive experience in Sales and Marketing and an involvement in Export and Import for over 50 years. Additionally trading in commodities from around the world including: Sugar, Rape Seed Oil, Sunflower and Palm Oils, Cement, Rubber, Tea, Coffee, Rice, Copper, Iron Ore, Coal, Petroleum products from Crude Oil to refined products and many more items such as Petcoke and Ethanol. More recently have become more active in Financial coordination for traders and buyers with Financial instruments resulting in a new company McGill Global Ltd
